An old French Violin, Nicolas Augustin Chappuy, c. 1780

An old French Violin by Nicolas Augustin Chappuy, circa 1780, in Mirecourt, violin bear with an illegible stamp in the back. Nicolas Augustin Chappuy is one of the symbolic French violin maker in the mid –late 18th century. Though from his short living time, Chappuy produced massive of instruments which impacted the French Violin Making School later on. The Violin was made a gentle flames maple, with its curved scroll and pegbox. The back and ribs are similar, and the violin is varnished in golden-orange color.
