AN OLD FRENCH CELLO, LEON MOUGENOT WORKSHOP
An Old French cello in the early 1900, made by Leon Mougenot Workshop, bear the label “..latelier de Leon Mirecourt France” After Mougenot’s return to Mirecourt from Brussels in 1899, he established a highly influential workshop, where focused on building copies of the Italian masters with a large number of workers under his guide. Mougenot was also a gold medal winner of the International Exhibition of Eastern France. This cello which made in his workshop was built with medium high flamed spruce and maple. The two-piece spruce table is of fine grain broadening towards the flanks. The varnish is a brown color over golden ground.
