A Fine French Violin by Augustin Claudot, circa 1820. Violin bears its original maker’s brandstamp which read as “Augustin Claudot” inside the back. Augustin Claudot (1776-1843) is a well known French Luthier, and he is the brother of Charles Claudot. He has been worked in Paris for some time. His workmanship is excellent up to a degree. This violin is varnished in chestnut brown color. It’s a composite violin, the ribs, back, and scroll are original, and the top plated is made by Peter Lam. Violin is set up Aubert Deluxe France bridge and Solo Vision strings set.
